Our current course offerings pave the way, and we are on the brink of unveiling comprehensive Degree Programs in this burgeoning sector.

Municipal Solid Waste: An Insight

The Ministry of Urban Development has categorized solid waste into fourteen distinct types, encompassing domestic, municipal, commercial, institutional, and hazardous waste, among others. Our focus extends to Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), covering both commercial and residential waste generated within municipal areas. Our comprehensive approach includes waste collection, segregation, transportation, processing, and disposal.

Current Realities and Future Prospects

Waste generation is projected to increase to around 165 million tonnes by 2030. Despite such volumes, only about 75-80% of municipal waste is collected, with a mere 22-28% undergoing proper processing and treatment. The recent revision of the Solid Waste Management rule and the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan underscore the urgent need for a skilled workforce to manage this pressing issue effectively. At Productive India Foundation, we recognize the critical role that capacity building plays in transforming waste management into a sustainable and thriving sector.
